Mite Allergen Panel (8)

The Mite Allergen Panel (8) is a serological allergy test designed for the initial assessment of IgE-mediated sensitization to the major mite species associated with respiratory and environmental allergies. The panel includes the most common house dust mites as well as storage mites, which may be found in homes, food storage facilities, farms, and other environments with increased humidity.

The test determines the presence of specific IgE antibodies to individual allergens and is a valuable tool in the evaluation of patients with symptoms suggestive of respiratory allergies. The results contribute to guiding further allergy investigations and establishing the appropriate diagnostic approach based on the patient's clinical manifestations and medical history.

Included allergens

Indications

• recurrent sneezing, nasal congestion, runny nose or nasal itching without an infectious cause;
• symptoms that worsen at home, in enclosed spaces, or in dusty and humid environments;
• persistent symptoms of allergic rhinitis occurring throughout the year;
• eye itching, excessive tearing or manifestations suggestive of allergic conjunctivitis;
• persistent cough, wheezing or symptoms suggestive of allergic asthma;
• suspected sensitization to house dust mites or storage mites;
• evaluation of patients with respiratory symptoms associated with dust exposure;
• initial assessment of patients with suspected mite allergy.

Procedure

The analysis is performed using a venous blood sample collected from the elbow crease. The procedure takes only a few minutes and is carried out by qualified medical personnel.

Test method

Determination of specific IgE antibodies in serum against individual allergens using an automated immunological method.

Interpretation of results

The test result allows the assessment of sensitization to the main mite species included in this panel.

In the case of a positive result, an allergist may recommend additional investigations, including the determination of specific IgE antibodies to molecular allergen components or other allergy tests, depending on the patient's clinical presentation and medical history.

The results should be interpreted in conjunction with the patient's symptoms, exposure history and other relevant clinical findings.
