Rapid Qualitative Urine Drug Screen — 12-Parameter Multi-Drug Panel
Rapid urine test for narcotic and psychoactive substances – multi-drug panel, 12 parameters - is a qualitative immunochromatographic screening test designed for the simultaneous detection in urine of specific psychoactive substances, medications with abuse potential, substance classes, and their metabolites.
The method is based on a competitive immunological reaction. The result indicates whether the target substance or a cross-reacting compound is present at a concentration below, equal to, or above the established test threshold - cut-off.
The test does not determine the exact concentration of the substance and is not a confirmatory test.

Detection periods are approximate. They depend on the dose, frequency of use, individual metabolism, kidney function, urine concentration, sample collection time, and the test cut-off value.
Role of the test
The test is intended for rapid preliminary detection of possible recent use of the substances included in the panel.
The result may be used as part of a medical assessment but must be interpreted taking into account:
- clinical symptoms;
- patient history;
- medications taken;
- estimated time of use;
- results of other laboratory and instrumental investigations.
Urine screening does not allow determination of the administered dose, the exact time or route of substance administration, the exact concentration, or the degree of intoxication.
Urine screening is used to detect recent use, accidental or intentional intake of medications, and for monitoring certain treatment programs.
Indications
The test may be recommended in cases of:
- suspected recent use of psychoactive substances;
- possible accidental or intentional intake of medications;
- unexplained changes in consciousness or behavior;
- neurological, cardiovascular, or respiratory symptoms of possible toxicological origin;
- preliminary assessment in cases of suspected overdose;
- monitoring of patients within medical addiction treatment programs;
- approximate monitoring of the intake of certain medications according to medical indications.
The test is performed as a preliminary screening investigation. It is not a medical examination for official purposes and cannot be used as an independent legal or forensic conclusion.
Procedure
No special preparation or fasting is required.
For the test, a random urine sample with a minimum volume of 10 ml is used, collected in a clean, dry, single-use container without preservatives.
Before testing, the laboratory staff must be informed about all prescription and over-the-counter medications being taken, as some of them may affect the screening result or cause cross-reactions.
Immunological tests for certain substance classes, particularly opiates and amphetamines, are not completely specific.
Result interpretation
Negative result — both the control line C and the test line T appear. The result indicates that the tested substance is absent or present at a concentration below the established cut-off threshold. Even a faint or weak T line is interpreted as a negative result. The intensity of the line does not reflect the concentration of the substance.
Preliminary positive result — only the control line C appears, while the test line T is absent. The result indicates the presence of the tested substance or a cross-reacting compound at a concentration equal to or above the established cut-off threshold. A preliminary positive result requires confirmation using a more specific analytical method, such as chromatography with mass spectrometry.

Before urine collection, the patient must inform the physician or laboratory staff about:
- all prescription and over-the-counter medications;
- medications used for pain, anxiety, insomnia, or depression;
- methadone replacement therapy;
- dietary supplements being taken;
- products or substances that may affect the test result.
Excessive fluid intake before urine collection is not recommended, as dilution of the sample may reduce the substance concentration below the cut-off threshold.
